If you prefer CDs, it’s the best deal for both of us if you pick up my CDs at CDBaby, where they are $10 plus a couple bucks for postage. You can also get my albums over at Amazon. All CDs come with full lyric booklets, so you can follow along while you listen!

The Reluctant Hook (and the day that caught it)

My latest effort features real storysongs that proceed from line to line, telling tales of haunted telemarketers, pear blossoms, insomnia, and Celtic intrigue at the mega-mall. It’s the first record I’ve made outside my home studio – we recorded it at Arbor Ridge Studios in Chapel Hill, and almost all the basic tracks were recorded live with bass and drums in the same room, just like in the old days. “1, 2, 3, go!” Special guests were brought in on cello and keyboards, and I sang my own harmony vocals and overdubbed additional instruments myself. Popular tracks on this album include “My Backstory,” “Advice For Ladies,” “Three Forms of Media,” and “The Makeup Company.”

Play To Remember

In 2004, I did some serious touring, travelling several big loops up the East Coast and out to the Midwest and back. While I was home between trips, I worked on Play To Remember. It contains many songs that are still live favorites, including “Driving To Georgetown,” “Nothing Sexy,” “Give It Away If I Can,” and “Doing Your Dishes.” Production-wise, you get acoustic sounds, crunchy electro drum machine beats, AND real live band songs. Lyrically, the record covers ground ranging from roadtrips to roadkill, freezing winters of love and melted soap on the kitchen floor of said love. And a song whose entire chorus is “De la la la.” Enjoy!

Solitaire For Two

This album was recorded over a long summer of computer solitaire in 2002. Its production is simple and direct, just like that heart on your sleeve. “Good For You” won 2nd place in the SongLounge.com international songwriting contest a year later. This record is the sound of flipping a coin between acoustic power-pop and woodsy tales of kittens and the trees that love them. You probably know a number of these songs from my live shows: “Bureau de Change,” “Good For You,” “Back in a Few,” “Wonder What You’re Doing.”

Yours Asleep

“Yours Asleep” was the product of over a year of work, starting at the end of my senior year of college, and was my first experience putting together a full-length album. After years of having only four-track cassette machines to work with, I finally had eight tracks to work with, and I layered vocals and orchestrated guitars, keyboards, and sound effects with an enthusiasm that still make me smile when I listen to it now. Hits from this one include “Bug on the 4th of July,” “Bittersweet with Lime,” “No Problem,” the title track, and the vampire ode “The Travelling Red-Velvet Curtain.”

Merchandise (t-shirts and stuff)

I still need to set this up so you can order T-shirts, tote bags, and maybe even underwear festooned with Hedgepig and other Tad-related imagery. Letcha know when that’s up and running. I know your baby NEEDS a Hedgepig onesy, so I’ll try to get to this once I put out the other fires I seem constantly to be tending.
