My New Band: BIRL

I’ve started a new contra dance band with my friends Samuel Foucher and Garrett Cameron, called BIRL.

We filmed a recent rehearsal – click here to watch .

The word “birl” is Scottish slang for “to spin,” and is also a type of piping ornament. Among lumberjacks, it also apparently refers to log rolling.

We have two dances on the books right now – Peterborough NH on Oct 7 and Norwich VT on Jan 13.

For more info on BIRL, please visit our website. I’ll be posting band dates on my personal calendar here, too.
